Abstract:
Geochemical analysis of small samples—such as cuttings, oil, and produced water—can reveal powerful insights into reservoir dynamics, production challenges, and development strategies. In this talk, Dr. Jennifer Adams will highlight how geochemical tools are being used across asset types to optimize recovery, reduce uncertainties, and support better decision-making throughout the life of the field.
Drawing from real-world case studies, this talk highlights how geochemical workflows are used to:
-
Differentiate contributing zones in commingled production and integrate with reservoir quality and depletion risk
-
Evaluate the impact of operating conditions on recovery - such as choke management, PVT sampling and recombination
-
Prepare for EOR on mature wells, from design to monitoring
-
Monitor waterflood performance using natural tracers
Whether you’re a large operator or a lean team managing mature assets, this talk will demonstrate how fit-for-purpose geochemical data—when paired with reservoir quality, production, and geologic insights—can drive practical, high-impact results.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Jennifer Adams is a recognized expert in geochemistry and reservoir fluid dynamics, known for applying integrated geoscience and engineering approaches to solve complex oil and gas challenges. Her career spans global basins and includes work in oil sands, heavy oil, the Gulf of Mexico, and unconventional reservoirs. Her work integrates basin modeling, PVT data, and geochemical diagnostics to investigate reservoir anomalies, surface leakage, and fluid mobility.
She previously led petroleum systems teams at ConocoPhillips and co-founded Gushor Inc., a geochemistry company later acquired by Schlumberger. Now at Stratum Reservoir, Jennifer has delivered solutions for over 100 operators—launching the Stratum water lab, developing Low Temperature-Hydrous Pyrolysis for oil recovery from cuttings, advancing H₂S origin studies, and supporting CCUS evaluations. She also teaches industry courses and has co-authored numerous papers and patents.
She is passionate about using geochemistry to uncover what physics alone cannot—and helping operators of all sizes translate complex fluid data into practical field solutions.
